Videx VEM Series Hand & Magazine Feed
Extrusion Machines

Videx is offering a new series of extrusion machines that are automatically fed from a magazine.

The main function of the machines is to extrude parts from major thread diameter to a pitch diameter.

The VEM machines are equipped with bar feeders that automatically feed the straight parts into the dies. The machines extrude the parts, and eject them outside the machine without operator assistance.

The major advantage of this new line is the ability to feed both short and long parts into the machine with the same feeding system, and enables using one set of gripper dies for the entire range of part lengths.

Each model in the VEM line covers a large range of wire diameters. For example, our 1'' machine can cover 3/16'' to 1'' diameter and lengths starting as short as 2¾''.

Being open in front, the machine has no maximum length restrictions, and can also be used as a hand feed machine for extra long parts.

The machine has a slim profile, which enables feeding bent parts, as well. The machine is optionally supplied with "side windows" for feeding bent parts from the side.

The extrusion stroke adjustment is external and takes just seconds.

The VEM models are also available in higher tonnage ratings, for Upsetting and Heading. The machines are available with 1 or 2 stations, either open dies or closed dies and heading tonnage up to 400 tons.

Fully automatic machines are available as well from coil, up to Ø25mm.

Extrusion has the following advantages:

  1. It is 5 times faster than turning blanks.
  2. It is cheaper, saving a considerable amount of material.
  3. It is a clean operation.
  4. The surface quality is better.
  5. The rolled thread is stronger than cut thread.

An example of material savings, based on a finished part length of 20'':

When extruding 1'' diameter down to 1'' UNC pitch diameter(0.91''), the part length would extend about 21% of the material extrusion length, so instead of needing to start with 20'' long bar, you can start with a bar 18.97'' long.
The immediate saving on this example, is about 5% on the total cost of material on each piece.
